117-Snallygaster?

Play

The Snallygaster is a Maryland based cryptid whose description is so bizarre that is almost sounds like some kind of Lovecraftian horror. Half eagle, half reptile with razor sharp teeth so hard and dark they look like steel. It has wings to small for its body but yet it flies. It has one large eye in the middle of its forehead like some kind of reptile cyclops. it also has tentacles coming out of its mouth like it has a large octopus as a tongue. Beware the Snallygaster, especially if you are a drinker. We have heard it has a fondness for moonshine.

Beware of the blob, it creeps
And leaps and glides and slides
Across the floor
Right through the door
And all around the wall
A splotch, a blotch
Be careful of the blob

070-Vampires?

There are stories of people living after death by preying on the blood and life-force of the living. The vampire has been romanticized, villainized, sexualized, and monsterized. The tales of the vampire is centuries old and shows no signs of stopping. What is it about these undead creatures that fascinates us? We try to answer these questions on this weeks episode.

069-Curses?

Play

Curses, jinxes and hexes have a life as long as human history. Some curses can follow families or objects while others are associated with areas or buildings. Diametrically opposite of the blessing, the curse remains a lingering belief to this day.

044-Absinthe?

Play

Absinthe make the mind wander. Some call it the Green Fairy. Some call it a Devil in a Bottle. We call it very refreshing.

Today for the end of the Halloween season we dive into the green world of Absinthe. The ban has been lifted on absinthe after a century and we couldn’t be happier. We try several cocktails including the Sazerac, a Corpse Reviver #2 and a Slow Death in the Afternoon. Of course we also try it straight and the traditional drip method. We gave the Bohemian method a try by lighting it on fire to not the greatest effect.

041-Ouija?

Play

From spiritualism to demonic possession and creepy sleepovers the spirit board or talking board has a long and sorted past. Some use the Ouija to talk to angles, spirits or their own subconscious. Although the visual ascetics might change from board to board the components of yes, no, the alphabet and numbers as well as the sun and moon generally stay the same. The planchette or “little plank” is of course used to roam around the board at your fingertips giving you messages from beyond. So if you’re deciding if you should listen to this episode the Ouija points to “Yes”.
